Mom
Could you please call promed...552-2500 and ask if zithromax/azithromycin will help a yucky bug bite on Caitlin's ankle. It is swollen and red, kinda hot. I have the above antibiotic and am using it along with benadryl and hydoroctisone cream. A nurse here said it looks like it may be getting cellulitice? Leave me a comment on the blog and I'll get it.
Thanks
Kim

I called the doctors office and have to wait until the doc gets in will let you know what they say as soon as I know.
Well, as much as I like Promed they unfortunately will not give us any help or suggestions. They say to seek medical attention there. Norm thought of taking a picture of it and putting it on the blog but ProMed says it will not matter. The best thing to do is to probably ask and take her to some immediate medical facility.
Please let us know how she is doing and keep us posted on her. Norm is really worried, and so are the rest of us.
I just Googled Cellulitis and it is a skin infection, facial cellulitis in children requires immediate medical attention, usually is treated with antibiotics, rest and elevation of the affected area, and a warm compress (and this is Kristi by the way). Some cases are more severe and require hospitalization in people who have decreased blood flow, long-term selling, diabetes or an impaired immune system.
I am so sorry this happend but it sounds like if you can just get a doc to look at her they can get her an antibotic and she should be ok.
Please keep us posted. I know is is late now, so let us know when you can.
Love Kristi (PS sorry about my spelling, there is not spell check)
Hello,
Not to butt in here but I talked to a friend of mine who is a pharmacist at the hospital, he said that zithromax will not help the cellulitis. He said that you will need Keflex or Augumentin which unfortunatly, you will most likely have to see a dr. to get the prescription.
Hope her bite gets to feeling better. Glad to hear your all having a good time.
love to all,
Kim- Talk to your guide as well, they can help you at the pharmacy. I don't think that you need a prescription to get antibiotics in China.
