Pearl Market Adventure

Hi everyone
Today we went out shopping around the hotel and picked up laundry and pictures from a disposable camera. The pictures are not great but are a little snapshot of Samantha's life at the Foster Home.

We weren't out too long and Samantha melted down so I took her back to the hotel while everyone else shopped. She has been a crying mess today. Every little thing set her off. It is hard to distinguish naughtiness from confusion/grieving.

After a long nap we went on an excursion to the pearl market. We had to walk quite a while through several roads of markets. It was quite an incite into life in general here and what people will eat. We went past several beggars as well. Our guide told us that poor families from the country will send their disabled family members to the city were "bad men" employ them to beg on the streets. Some are without limbs and there are also disabled children on the streets as well. It is very sad especially considering the fact that the disabilities we saw were simple missing limbs. So correctable and unnecessary. Our guide said it is the best life they can have and "at least they have three meals a day. If they stayed home they would starve."

Here are some pictures from our day and our trip to the doctors for Samantha's exam yesterday.

Thanks for all the pictures.

Thanks for the birthday video (even though it wasn't for us...we enjoyed it!)

Give Peanut a big hug and kiss from me (and from Gramma).

Then give Sweet Pea (I have decided to call Samantha Sweet Pea)a big hug and kiss from me (and Gramma)

I finished picking the soybeans last night and will be switching over to corn. It is raining this morning.

The high yesterday was 83. Not expecting it to be that hot for the remainder of the week (highs in the low 70's, upper 60's).

When does your flight arrive in GR on Friday?

Really do miss all of you and am anxious to see you.

Love Dad (Granpa O)

(same goes for Gramma)

All I have to say is 3 days baby.

The pictures are amazing. Seahorses, huh.

Glad to see they have McDonalds too, Samantha seems to like it.

I hope the next few days go by fast. See you soon.

Love,
Kristi

Hi,
The market pictures are amazing, the variety of different things they eat explaines why most of the Chinese are so small.
We had rain this morning and cooler temps. The same predicted for tomorrow. We have to make a run to the tannery in the morning so I guess I dont care if it rains.
Kris is comming to the air port with us on Friday, Well ride with Norm and Marta. Ill call Norm in the morning and let him know your arrival time.
Hope the last two days of the trip go fast, cant wait to see you all.
Love,
Mom and Dave
